WEBVTT Kind: captions Language: en 00:00:15.910 --> 00:00:18.870 This educational project was developed with 00:00:18.870 --> 00:00:25.440 the aim to involve in music lessons a student suffering from hypoacusia. The attempt was to help 00:00:25.440 --> 00:00:30.420 her recognize the sounds surrounding her every day, even 00:00:30.420 --> 00:00:35.309 through written exercises, that is the transcription of onomatopoeia and 00:00:35.309 --> 00:00:42.970 phonemes, teaching her how to match sounds to the words she 00:00:42.970 --> 00:00:49.870 read in the onomatopoeia. I initially developed it as a music project. Then, I decided 00:00:49.870 --> 00:00:54.730 to involve also the Literature, Science and in part even the English 00:00:54.730 --> 00:01:01.750 and Art teachers. It therefore turned out to be a multidisciplinary project, a relatively 00:01:01.750 --> 00:01:10.240 complete learning unit. With regard to Literature, we linked the music part 00:01:10.240 --> 00:01:16.430 to Futurism, working with the sounds 00:01:16.430 --> 00:01:24.410 produced by the onomatopoeia encountered. With regard to Science, 00:01:24.410 --> 00:01:30.070 we talked about sound waves and the propagation of sound. We then connected 00:01:30.070 --> 00:01:35.869 the topic of onomatopoeia with the onomatopoeia used in English comic 00:01:35.869 --> 00:01:40.560 books. The key aspect, 00:01:40.560 --> 00:01:45.570 the theme, the basic topic, was the score Stripsody: a 00:01:45.570 --> 00:01:51.619 score written as a series of comic strips that the students had to 00:01:51.619 --> 00:02:00.060 interpret and then reinterpret in a personalized way. The project allowed to developed 00:02:00.060 --> 00:02:05.970 a series of competences, among which: how to make 00:02:05.970 --> 00:02:13.230 connections and relations, how to plan, acquire, interpret 00:02:13.230 --> 00:02:18.750 information, how to communicate even in a multimedia format, 00:02:18.750 --> 00:02:24.600 cultural awareness and expression, and lastly how to cooperate actively in an autonomous 00:02:24.600 --> 00:02:29.790 and responsible way in a shared project. With regard to Music, 00:02:29.790 --> 00:02:35.760 the work was essentially based on the realization of 00:02:35.760 --> 00:02:40.650 musical experiences through vocal performances and interpretations of 00:02:40.650 --> 00:02:48.269 pieces belonging to different genres and cultures, also using non-traditional 00:02:48.269 --> 00:02:54.420 notation systems to communicate one's thoughts and ideas 00:02:54.420 --> 00:03:00.450 concerning music, and develop them in a multimedia format, besides integrating 00:03:00.450 --> 00:03:06.390 all this knowledge with other artistic activities and work in an inclusive 00:03:06.390 --> 00:03:12.030 way with classmates. With regard to the student suffering from hypoacusia, 00:03:12.030 --> 00:03:17.609 instead, we mainly concentrated on helping her recognize the sounds 00:03:17.609 --> 00:03:21.870 surrounding her every day, recognizing 00:03:21.870 --> 00:03:27.220 them through images with a 00:03:27.220 --> 00:03:34.900 written phoneme and learning how to reproduce sounds even if not heard, but read. The final 00:03:34.900 --> 00:03:42.520 output of the project was the realization of a non-traditional score, similar to the score 00:03:42.520 --> 00:03:47.620 Stripsody, of a Futurist poem chosen with the Italian Literature teacher: 00:03:47.620 --> 00:03:54.180 "The Sick Fountain" by Aldo Palazzeschi. Therefore, besides analyzing 00:03:54.180 --> 00:03:58.810 the score Stripsody, the students had to write "their own" score, similar 00:03:58.810 --> 00:04:04.710 to Stripsody, basing it on the poem "The Sick Fountain." 00:04:04.710 --> 00:04:11.860 They then had to record a series of sounds and realize a score made of sounds: 00:04:11.860 --> 00:04:16.470 so not using the words of the poem but its 00:04:16.470 --> 00:04:19.920 sounds.
