This educational path was born from a desire to offer the class an all-round musical experience, not only consisting of the practice of vocal technique, but aimed at promoting a broader range of skills.
In accordance with the 2012 Italian National Guidelines, the project focused on the perception and production of sound so that the students could enjoy a meaningful encounter with music.
Starting off from the concept of the pulse, the core of all music, acquired and consolidated through games of various kinds involving the body, the voice, and some musical instruments, the students were encouraged to perform rhythmic and melodic accompaniments and thus to constitute a real orchestra.
The project was implemented during the music lessons (2 hours a week) in a fourth-year primary school class.
The course was carried out in two different classrooms according to availability and the activities anticipated for each lesson: a large multipurpose hall without desks to allow the students to move around, and a classroom.
The materials used were: adhesive paper tape to outline paths on the floor, sheets of paper, a stereo system, a blackboard, a glockenspiel and xylophone blocks, keyboards, Boomwhackers, and Orff instruments. Audacity (freeware) and MuseScore software also proved particularly useful.
