The activities have the aim to foster the development of the linguistic abilities achieved prior to the learning acquired at school with regard to reading and writing. Phonological and meta-phonological awareness represent an indispensable condition to learn how to read and write. Four and five-year old children have a rich and flexible oral linguistic repertoire. Therefore, it is important and useful to intervene in order to increase their metalinguistic awareness, that is the ability to reflect on the linguistic forms used: language becomes an object provided with form and structure, and represents the oral preparation to literacy.
Welcoming spaces full of light. The students work barefoot, sitting on rugs.
The only instrument necessary for the activities is the students’ voice. Words sing, captivate and convince. Words need to be given a body and a voice, breath and eyes, immediacy and presence. This is the only way to confirm that the ear is the seat of the sublime. It is important to provide the students with a quality repertoire: nursery rhymes and poems waiting patiently for someone to free them, without expecting anything in change, without the worry of having to understand. Voice games are a precious observation tool, giving the possibility to identify even any risk indicators at an early stage.
The skills, goals and training objectives selected by the teacher for this experience are shown below.

- become aware of the movements of the phonatory apparatus
- pronounce phonemes clearly
