The fascinating non-silence, the impish quarter notes and the App Arpie

The initial input for the realization of the project consisted in the development of the sense of rhythm. The final product was a videoclip realized with and by the students. The path was based on a narrative expedient and a story, including creativity, instrumental and vocal activities, the other arts, the App Arpie, and technologies. It fostered inclusion, the extemporary management of resources, active participation, cooperative learning, curiosity. The technologies were contextualized to give sense to all the experiences, even in the light of a new humanism. Social relations, laboratory activities and personal commitment were fundamental for the acquisition of specific musical competences that the students achieved bringing into play generosity, perseverance and competences. The App Arpie is playful in nature, but offers the possibility to cover specific topics related to music: association of sound/graphic relation, organizational principles, concept of pace, beat, simultaneous aggregation of sounds, graphic/vocal/instrumental integration, listening, rhythmic/vocal coordination. The recorder combines manual skills with breathing and expressive coordination. It promotes musical good taste, the research of the quality of sound and the development of the inner ear.

The performance with the BoomWhackers allowed to work on the group’s coordination and fostered the inclusion of all the students. Another interesting aspect was the experience relating to the integration of timbres.

The title of the narration fostered considerations on non-silence and acoustic ecology.
